Gorilla's view - pimped

Voy Kay 14 Apr 2020

Thanks to community darling 'Sunnylady', who gave me advice on how to improve this painting, I was able to improve this African scenery with gorilla. Not only the mountains, waterfall and grasses were pimped, I also added two breadtrees (baobab) and an eagle. The latter one is probably where the gorilla is looking at, or else it is mountain Kilimanjaro.
Hope you will enjoy this pimped version!

The modified rocks look real and the Eagle is so cool.

Thx Jin, I wanted to put in a Heron too but was afraid it would take too much attention away!

Voy, do you like it better now? What's your final say? I think it looks better. I see that gorilla is now standing on the ground. The rock is certainly more massive now and more live. How did you survive alterations? I remember you were absolutely not happy about fixing dried painting. Di you use retouch varnish?
I love the idea you put an eagle there. There is communication between gorilla and the eagle. I think it changed the feeling from the painting. Now each of them is king in their kingdom either in the air or in the forest.
I think baobabs are amazing trees wish could see them alive one day. I always remember "Little prince" when i think about baobab. :)

You are so good at animals silhouettes! Animals bring so much live in the painting!

I liked the original painting as it was a "quiet" scene. However your pimped version has more drama, more colour. I can hear the echo if the eagle.

Indeed LJM, the colouring is more accentuated, also due to the fact that the oils were completely dry. I was worried at first that the eagle would be too small but this painting is best viewed from some distance and then all shapes and colours come out beautiful and correct.
(Sorry for my sometimes crazy English, it is only my fourth language you know, but guess you can understand what I want to express/write).

Dear Sunnylady, yes of course dear friend, it is better for sure. In fact, I could have gone even a bit further with the gorilla rocks and plants. What helped me was your advice and also the Australian contour painting where Ayers rock was a huge success to me. The shadowwork there also learned me how to get more depth and contrast in this one. It was easy to do the alterations since the paint was almost completely dry and the new oils added very easily. So, no retouch varnish used there!
Me and my family had the same thought about the interaction between eagle and gorilla. It does give more sense to the entire (gentil) atmosphere and yes, they both feel like mastering their kingdoms, excellent opinion! Also the added trees give more volume I believe, those were really a last second idea of mine after all other alterations.
While my family was very hesitant and opposed at first about adding animals (now they love them!), I feel my African painting series really needs those! As long as I keep it limited in numbers and size, all is okay. Oh yes, also need to mention to really paint those as real as possible and painting these silhouette style really helps enormously with that.
Thanks so much for your cheers, wisdom and your help with this creation! Till next one!

Happy to hear it! You are always welcome. I'll try to help if i know how. Also don't forget I learn a lot from you with your crazy creative power!
